Join us for a special event focused exclusively on the lived experience of people who are part of the transgender community to help raise awareness of what is means to live out loud as a trans person. Jae Sloan (they/them) will be joined by Dr. Clara Barker (she/her), a longtime friend of the Proud Science Alliance and the EPSRC PDRA and Daphne Jackson Trust research fellow in thin film superconductors at Oxford University, Al Pacifico-France (she/they), an idependent creative transformation consultant and coach at Evosis, and Lizzie Finch, People Coordinator at Our Media and Chair of Our Media's LGBTQ+ network, Our Pride. Together they will talk openly and honestly about what it means to be trans, particularly now when the trans identity has in many places become a significant political and social issue. They will welcome your questions, focusing attention on helping those who attend to gain greater understanding of what it means and feels like to have and own a gender identity that is different to the one assigned at birth. You can submit questions in advance by emailing them to admin@proudsciencealliance.org.
Please share this open event with your network. If you want to get an introduction to gender identity and expression, you can access the recording on our YouTube channel from an event from earlier in 2024. You can also find more gender identity and expression resources by clicking here.
