Please join us for our inaugural 2025 quarterly keynote session, which will focus on exploring and understanding lesser-known queer identities, such as aromantic, asexual and agender which are all encompassed within the ‘A’ of LGBTQAI+ acronym. The event will feature keynote speakers Sarah Cosgriff (she/they) and Kate Holmes (add pronouns), who will share insights from their expertise and lived experiences.
Holiday periods, regardless of when they happen throughout the year, are often marked with an increase in activities and gatherings with work colleagues, family and friends which can often negatively impact mental health, particularly for LGBTQ+ people. The aim of the session is to provide practical support for our mental health and wellbeing during these times.
These events are open to anyone within PSA organisations who are network leaders or support network leaders and want to be part of learning and building community together.
This November 18th is LGBTQIA+ STEMM Day 2024. QueersInScience, Proud Science Alliance APAC, AstraZeneca & Bio21 partner to bring you what is set to be an amazing LGBTQIA+ STEMM Day seminar and networking event.
Join us for a special event focused exclusively on the lived experience of people who are part of the transgender community to help raise awareness of what is means to live out loud as a trans person.
Save the date for a number of activities surrounding Pride in London on 29 June 2024!
We all come with multiple facets to our identity, and we will highlight intersectionality as important to understand and embrace in the STEM sector. At the centre of the event will be a dynamic panel discussion meant to educate, inspire and even provoke all those attending so everyone walks away with a greater appreciation for intersectionality in the queer community and what it means practically in places we work, innovate and connect. There will be space to talk and connect with others at the event venue before we begin and after the panel discussion.
Join us for the first Proud Science Alliance day-long conference, live in person on 22 May 2024. You can expect a keynote speaker, mini workshops and a panel discussion all meant to inspire, build knowledge and even provoke conversation around how we continue to raise the bar on LGBTQ+ inclusion within our life science and healthcare organisations and the sector as a whole. There will be space to meet others across the sector to create connections and build relationships.
The purpose of the event is to focus attention on the experience of queer men and those with male bodies from a professional and health perspective as they age. The aim is to provide practical and supportive advice and point people to resources to go deeper into relevant topics discussed. We will focus little on sexual health because there are plenty of amazing resources available on this topic, instead focusing almost purely on the aging of the anatomy and physiology of the male body as it ages, and how those with male bodies can best support and maintain good health.
The focus of this session is on gender identity and how individuals express their gender.

Proud Crick are delighted to present our LGBTQ+ networking symposium on 21st February 2024. We would like to invite LGBTQ+ networks from universities and scientific organisations in and surrounding London to join us in an evening of talks, diversity, and networking. February marks LGBTQ+ history month, and the theme this year is Medicine. In this vein, we invite you to join us to consider the past and future progressions in LGBTQ+ diversity in science, healthcare, and medicine.
This event is organised by Proud Crick. The event is proudly sponsored by the Francis Crick Institute, which kindly provided the event space and refreshments, and the Proud Science Alliance, which kindly provided funding for our speakers. We also want to thank our other event collaborators UCL, Imperial, Kings, Positive East, BSI and Springer Nature
Please register here for your free ticket: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/lgbtq-in-stem-networking-symposium-tickets-790045245597
The focus of this session is to create a deeper understanding of the contextual and historical experience of LGBTQ+ people with a focus on science and medicine. The aim is to help build an understanding of how being queer is not new, but how the LGBTQ+ narrative and experience has often been discounted and erased. The talk will include content on the queer historical narrative through the lens of science/healthcare and how LGBTQ+ activism in the last few decades has started to reclaim the queer narrative globally.
Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the historical context of being queer as a way to understand more broadly ‘our’ history.
Attendees will better understand how queer history, like the histories of many communities of difference, has been discounted, discarded or erased; and understand the implications of these actions.
Attendees will gain some understanding of how the queer historical narrative has been impacted by the medical and scientific communities.
Attendees will better understand the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement as a backdrop to where we are today with LGBTQ+ equality.

Finding leadership gold at the end of your rainbow
The Proud Science Alliance is sponsoring a series of virtual sessions that will focus on the leadership experience of people who identify as LGBTQ+. The session facilitators aim to build confidence in attendees’ leadership approach and capability while also building confidence to integrate their LGBTQ+ identity as part of their leadership brand.
Leadership Series Summary Overview
The leadership series is a set of four virtual sessions specifically created for employees in the healthcare and life sciences sector who identify as LGBTQ+ and want to focus on their leadership approach and capability. None of the sessions aim to replicate leadership training available to many of us inside our organisations, but instead compliment what you might gain from those and other formal leadership courses. Because the LGBT+ experience at work is often different, even when it comes to leadership, we wanted to acknowledge this and create space to address it in a very practical way. Sessions will be designed and facilitated by a team from the Proud Science Alliance and will feature invited guests.
Session Summary
We will explore some concepts such as role modelling and leading from the front, middle and behind. We will talk about standing up for ourselves by owning our identity and how this contributes to our delivery and abilities.
Projected Outcomes
Attendees understand what a role model is and decide for themselves if they want to actively step into that role with their understanding of what it means. Attendees understand what it means to both stand up (state an opinion, speak out) and stand out (take action, lead) and decide for themselves how they want to do both of these things.

Session Summary
How do you navigate an environment that values leadership characteristics predicated on the straight, white cis-gendered male archetype? This session explores the concept of support and how to ensure you ask for and get the support you need on your leadership journey. These can be members of the LGBT+ community or allies - whoever will stand beside you and support you.
Projected Outcomes
Attendees are aware of how a certain norm has been applied to leadership, generally speaking. Attendees come away understanding practical ways they can stand in their power as leaders as they navigate their career path in a way that feels comfortable to them. Attendees understand the value of thoughtfully gathering people around them who are supportive and helpful. Attendees gain some practical tips for how they can build their support community and agree some actions they want to take personally.

We will explore what we want to be known for, focusing on accepting self as a leader while also embracing and honouring our LGBTQ+ identity.
Projected Outcomes
Attendees understand that leadership really does start with 'self' rather than a prescriptive framework into which everyone must fit. Attendees come away with some practical advice and even exercises they can do to build confidence in themselves as individuals and as leaders. Attendees understand the concept of leadership brand and how to explore this and even document this for themselves.
