Purpose: To highlight lesbian experiences including some focus on how these intersect with other identities in celebration and awareness of Lesbian Visibility Week.

Summary: Join the Proud Science Alliance as we celebrate Lesbian Visibility Week. Through a powerful, engaging, and thought-provoking conversation around what it means to identify as a Lesbian in 2025, gain increased awareness through discussion of differing lived experiences, intersectional identities, and the empowerment needed to live openly as lesbian. We will welcome panellists from the STEM sector who have a diverse set of experiences in terms of lived and work experience, but all who openly identify as lesbian. Together they will share their insights, stories and wisdom to create more awareness and understanding of the lesbian identity that will help all who attend to better understand their own identity too.

Who should attend: This event is open to anyone so please come along if you are interested in exploring identity, including your own, through hearing more about lesbian/intersectional identities. We always encourage everyone from across the LGBTQ+ community to join along with those who support our community as allies. Sessions like this are also valuable to leaders in any role who want to build their capability to be more inclusive and supportive leaders.

Expected outcomes:

• Attendees should gain increased awareness of: Lesbian experiences, intersectional identities, differing lived experiences, challenges faced by those within the lesbian community

• Attendees should gain a great appreciation and understanding of identity, including their own, through hearing about the lived experience of our panellists.
